What is a doula?
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.
At Agape Doula Sanctuary (AgapeDS) we are here to provide direct postpartum doula support. Postpartum doula's help moms get the rest and time needed to heal after birth and bond with baby. If you are a new mom you want to learn how to manage your time and if you are a seasoned mom you want to incorporate new baby by providing enough time to older siblings too. Pospartum doula's provide moms with an extra pair of hands, some time to take a shower or eat a hot meal, some time to spend with thier older children and much more. And if AgapeDS isn't a good postpartum doula fit for you we can assist in finding one that is. AgapeDS has a vast connection with doulas nationwide and the ability to fit each client with the support needed when you are having your 1st or 10th child.
